Boston Cream Donuts
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Set the oven temperature to 175C 350F
Mix together flour, milk, egg, softened butter, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl
Blend until thoroughly blended, creating a silky batter
After lining each well with about two thirds of the batter, grease a donut pan
The donuts should be baked for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and spring back when touched, in a preheated oven
After taking the donuts out of the oven, let them cool in the pan for a short while
After that, move them to a wire rack to finish cooling
The semisweet chocolate chips should be melted in 30-second increments in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring after each to ensure smoothness
Heat the heavy cream in a different microwave-safe bowl until it's almost boiling
Once the chocolate chips have melted, pour the heated cream over them and stir until the mixture is glossy and smooth
To the chocolate mixture, add the vanilla extract and confectioners' sugar, and stir until thoroughly blended
After the donuts are cool, cut a small slit in the side of each one with a knife
The chocolate cream filling should be piped into the center of each donut using a piping bag
Before serving, let the filling settle for a few minutes
